MEXICO CITY (AP) — Prosecutors in Mexico have won a 38-year prison sentence against a man convicted of killing journalist Regina Martinez, but the magazine she worked for said justice hasn't been served.

Prosecutors in the Gulf coast state of Veracruz say the sentence against Jorge Silva Hernandez shows the government takes journalists' killings seriously. Nine reporters and photographers have been killed in the state since 2010.

Convictions in such cases in Mexico are rare.

But the magazine Proceso said in an online statement late Tuesday that the fingerprints found in the journalist's home following her death in April 2012 don't match Silva Hernandez's.

The magazine wrote that "those who are truly guilty have not been identified" and noted that Silva Hernandez has said he was tortured to force him to confess.
