Michael Farmer is making another move.

The Edmond North running back is transferring to Edmond Santa Fe, he told The Oklahoman.

Farmer, who recently decomitted from Arizona State and picked up a Washingon State offer, opened his high school career at Edmond Memorial before transferring to Edmond North.

“I think it’s just a better fit for me to go there,” said Farmer, who is No. 12 on The Oklahoman’s Super 30.

Farmer rushed for 995 yards and 19 touchdowns last season, leading Edmond North to the playoffs.

Edmond Schools athletic director Mike Nunley said Farmer met the necessary requirements for the transfer, according  to Policy 4850 in the school district’s policy.

Farmer received a hardship through a written proposal and will be eligible to play for Santa Fe, instead of sitting out the normal year that is required by the policy.

“He’s kind of got a unique situation,” Nunley said.

Farmer also said his relationship with star quarterback Justice Hansen and linebacker Austin Mack makes the move easier.

“We’ve been trying to get me over there since freshman year,” Farmer said. “We think we have something good over here and they feel like we can go out and win a state title.”

Edmond Santa Fe coach Lance Manning also confirmed the move.

Farmer began workouts Thursday morning with Santa Fe. He is still recovering from an ACL injury.
