The first lady told crowds in Castle Rock, Durango and Fountain that this year's race in Colorado will be closer than it was four years ago. That's when President Barack Obama became the first Democrat since 1992 to carry Colorado.

Michelle Obama urged supporters to spend the final days leading up to the election making sure newly registered voters turn in ballots.

Her appearance comes a week after her husband's lackluster performance in the first presidential debate at the University of Denver.

Next week, Vice President Joe Biden is coming to Colorado to rally support in Boulder and Greeley.
