Michigan State women eliminate Indiana 97-68

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Jasmine Hines and Porsche Poole scored 17 points each as Michigan State defeated Indiana 97-68 Thursday night in the first round of the Big Ten tournament.

The win secured Michigan State's ninth straight 20-win season and moved the fifth-seeded Spartans (20-10) into the Big Ten quarterfinals Friday against fourth-seeded Purdue.

The Spartans pulled away with a 13-0 run that gave them a 21-7 lead midway through the first half. They were ahead 41-26 at halftime and built the lead to as many as 35 points after the break.

Michigan State hit 7 of 10 3-pointers and shot 58 percent overall in the second half.

Alisha Goodwin scored 16 points for Indiana (6-24) and Quaneisha McCurry had 15.

Michigan State, which beat Indiana for the third time this season, also got 14 points from Taylor Alton and 11 from Becca Mills.
