A Mid-Del elementary school was locked down briefly Wednesday afternoon after a shooting a few blocks away.

Oklahoma City police got a call about 1:20 p.m., reporting several shots fired near SE 54 and Sunnylane Road, a couple of blocks south of Highland Park Elementary in the Midwest City-Del City School District. Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow said one person was shot in the hand at 4705 Dimple Drive and taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Stacey Boyer, spokeswoman for the district, said the school was locked down for about 20 minutes after the shooting.

Several people in a nearby apartment complex found bullet holes in their walls. Police are looking for two people that witnesses reported seeing drive away from the area.
