The Mid-Del Food Pantry received a bit of good will just in time for the holidays. A local couple, John and Lisa Schatz, donated 60 turkeys to the pantry. The best news is that there are still some left.

"We haven’t given them all away yet,” director George O’Gwynn said.
O’Gwynn said in general, donations to the pantry have increased this fall over past years.
This news is dulled by the fact that the number of families needing food is also growing. He reports that between 25 and 30 families come into the pantry every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Still, O’Gwynn said he is thankful for donors’ generosity.
Families that come in for turkeys, or chickens for smaller families, also receive products to make the accompanying sides from the pantry. The pantry prepares bags to send home with each family. The bags contain gravy, stuffing, sweet potatoes, cranberries, pumpkin, olives and chicken broth.
