CHICAGO (AP) — International travelers at Chicago's Midway International Airport could find the U.S. Customs process a little easier.

Chicago Department of Aviation and U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials say they've implemented a so-called Automated Passport Control program.

It helps passengers move more quickly through the U.S. Customs clearance process by allowing them to enter information at a self-service kiosk rather than filling out a declaration card.

The program called BorderXpress was implemented at O'Hare International Airport last summer, and officials say it has reduced wait times for international passengers by almost 28 percent.

Three carriers serve eight international destinations from Midway.

Midway handles more than 20 million passengers a year. Last year, more than 270,000 passengers went through Customs.
