"All I could think of was getting in the end zone” Lewis said. "I can’t describe the feeling, but I was so happy.”
Despite his team’s big loss, Huskies coach Jeremy Dombek remains confident in the quality of his team.
"We’ll rebound. We got a shot at getting second in this district and a home playoff game, so we’ve got a lot of stuff to look forward to in the next few weeks,” he said.
Midwest City is beating teams by an average of 30-plus points per game. Even so, the Bombers’ coaches are quick to shoot down any preconceptions of overconfidence.
"We talk to the kids every week about taking it one game at a time,” Huff said. "We know we got Putnam City coming to our place, and that’s always blue-collar, smashmouth type of football game so we’re just going to enjoy this win, go home and get focused for next week.”
