We went through it every year for about 5 years up to 2006. In 2006 we went through and almost got hit by two large SUV's going the wrong way backwards from the normal flow. We had to veer so far off that we crushed about 20 feet of those path lights. Our nephew looked at the tags of the vehicles and one said "police officer" and the other said "Fireman". We asked the people with the money donation buckets what the deal was and they told us that fire or police families could drive through it backwards. We consulted with the MWC city hall and they said they had nothing to do with the lights. I told them that if they keep letting people drive through it backwards, eventually there was going to be a head-on collision and it would be on city property made possible by city volunteers.

Cooter, When you started writing, Cletus of Mayberry disappeared. Is he like Earl, that when he disappeared, nobody cared? You don't have him wrapped up in a rug somewhere do you?

What and Cooterville (or whatever its real name) is the cultural capitol of America? Wow!

I think Midwest City should light up all the trash lying all over the place...that city is a cesspool.

I love Christmas displays always. We here in Del City hang up a wreath on our big main street and that is it! Go MWC in your celebration of this wonderful season.

Douglas, I believe you are into the study of religions as am I. Have you ever wondered about the Festival of Lights? For years I thought it came from the candles of the cleansing of the Temple from Hellenization. But it's history is a Hindu celebration called Diwali or Deepavila. It is a celebration of good over evil, light over darkness, and knowledge over ignorance. Just trivia. I'm not one to say if it is good or bad. I just like to study religions.

Actually, Stephanie, they have. On the evening of December 13th, you may run or walk through the light display with the Holiday Lights Spectacular Night Light Run, with more info at http://www.midwestcityok.org/Nightlight%20Run%20Brochure%202008.pdf. Great opportunity to run or walk through the display instead of driving through it!

I live in Midwest City. I refuse to go thru this boring display of lights ever again. Mix it up Midwest City.
