— The Midwest City Elks Lodge is accepting registration for the 2014 Hoop Shoot basketball free throw contest.

The contest is open to boys and girls ages 8 to 13. Boys and girls will compete separately in three age categories: 8 and 9, 10 and 11 and 12 and 13.

Last year, more than 300 students participated in the competition at the school level.

Contest rules have been distributed to public and private schools. Each contestant will fill out a registration form and compete in a competition at the school level.

The first-place winners in each category at each school will compete in the Midwest City Elks Lodge competition, scheduled for Jan. 11 at Soldier Creek Elementary School, 9021 SE 15.

The doors will open at Soldier Creek at 8:30 a.m. for registration. Registration forms should be provided by the coaches from each school.

First-place winners in the Midwest City lodge competition will then compete in the district contest to be held Jan. 18 in Chickasha.
