MIDWEST CITY — A chance meeting between a librarian and a filmmaker on a trek in Nepal led to a pre-release screening at the Midwest City Library of "Grace,” a profile of the late Grace Paley. Paley was a New York writer, poet and activist.

The free screening is at 3 p.m. Sunday at the library at 8143 E Reno, said librarian Linda Temple, who met New York filmmaker Sonya Friedman on the Nepal trip last fall.

The documentary, by Friedman and Linda Leehman, is to be released in New York in April. The two women completed work begun by Friedman’s husband, documentarian Herman Engel, before he died in 2008.

Paley, who died in 2007 at age 84, was well-known in literary circles, said Temple.
