Police have released the name of a 13-year-old boy who was found dead after a shooting incident at a Midwest City home last week.

Police received vague 911 calls about 1:30 p.m. Thursday about a possible shooting at the 4200 block of N Shadybrook Drive. When officers arrived, they found Lebron Davis dead in the garage. Police said they think Davis was shot once in the chest with a rifle.

Davis attended Crutcho Public Schools, according to a statement on the school district’s website. He would have started eighth grade Tuesday.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Lebron’s family and friends as they work through this difficult time,” Crutcho Superintendent Teresa McAfee-Wagner wrote in a statement.

Two other teens, ages 14 and 16, were home during the shooting. They originally told officers Davis died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. However, the teens later both told officers during separate interviews that the 14-year-old had been handling the rifle. The weapon unintentionally discharged and struck Davis in the chest, police said.

Police said no arrests had been made as of Monday afternoon. Investigators will present information from the case to the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s office for review. has disabled the comments for this article.
