Suspicious circumstances surrounding two deaths in a fire over the weekend have prompted police to launch a homicide investigation.

About 6 a.m. Saturday, firefighters responded to a fire at 1437 Maple Drive.

Fire crews quickly put out the fire, and a man and a woman were found dead inside the home, police said.

“From evidence at the scene, it was clear the deaths were suspicious in nature,” Midwest City Police Chief Brandon Clabes said in a news release.

The bodies have been sent to the state medical examiner for identification and to determine cause and manner of death, officials said.

Anyone with information about the deaths is asked to call Midwest City police at 739-1306. has disabled the comments for this article.
