With several capable scorers, the Midwest City boys never know who the hot shooter will be from game to game. On Friday night, it was Daryck Jones' turn.

The top-ranked Bombers advanced to the finals of the Mid-Del Holiday Invitational with an 86-61 win over the OKC Storm at Midwest City behind 24 points from Jones.

“Whoever's hitting shots, that's who we get the ball to,” Jones said. “I was feeling it, and they kept giving me the ball, so I kept shooting.”

Jones, a senior guard, made four 3-pointers, hitting a pair of them during a 15-2 run to start the second quarter that put the Bombers on top for good.

Cornell Neal came through with some clutch buckets during a second-half run that widened the gap. Neal had 15 of his 20 points in the second half.

The Storm got 14 points from sophomore Wyett Dressler and 13 from junior Chauncey Collins, who was hampered by an early ankle injury and tight defensive pressure from the Bombers.

“The first half, we weren't getting that many steals or touching many passes,” Jones said. “The second half, we started pressuring the ball better and running more.”

Midwest City will face Mustang at 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the tournament finals at Midwest City. Mustang defeated Putnam City North 81-73 behind 19 points each from Chandler Garrett and Terrell Williams to avenge a loss in the season opener.

MWC GIRLS ROLL INTO FINAL

It took the Midwest City girls just four minutes in the third quarter to match its total scoring output from the first half as the sixth-ranked Bombers recovered from a scoreless first period to defeat Lawton MacArthur 46-32 in the semifinals of the Mid-Del Holiday Invitational semifinals.
