Midwest City to host Veterans Day Freedom 5k run

MIDWEST CITY -- The Midwest City Convention and Visitors Bureau are co-sponsoring, along with Warriors For Freedom, the inaugural Veterans Day Freedom Run, to be held on Monday, Nov. 12.

According to event organizer, Melanie Voice, Midwest City’s roots are deep in our nation’s military. “Our community was actually developed to act as a service depot for Tinker Air Force Base, back in 1942,” Voice said.

We are very proud of our relationship with the military and the citizens who have served, are currently serving and will do so in the future, she added.

"The partnership with Warriors For Freedom is a great fit because they strive to improve the lives of our nation’s heroes and their families.

A portion of the event proceeds will benefit the Warriors For Freedom Foundation. The sanctioned 5k run will begin at 7:30 a.m., with registration beginning at 6 a.m. The run will commence on Century Boulevard. and will wind through the Joe B. Barnes Regional Park. The event will adhere to USA Track & Field Rules.
