Midwest City running back Timothy Flanders was named the Gatorade Oklahoma Football Player of the Year on Thursday.
Flanders ran for 2,132 yards and 34 touchdowns, helping lead the Bombers to the Class 6A semifinals. He also caught 10 passes for 125 yards and two scores and had 88 tackles and four interceptions on defense.
"Tim is the best player in the state, hands down," Del City coach Nick Warehime said in a release. "He's a great player. He has strong legs and he's tough to tackle in space."
Flanders currently has offers from Tulsa, where his brother John plays, and Air Force. He's also drawing attention from Big 12 schools.
Recent state Gatorade Players of the Year include Jenks' Mark Ginther (2007), Millwood's Gerald Jones (2006) and Southeast's Gerald McCoy (2005).
