The Oklahoman's OU football writer Jason Kersey took questions from readers in his Power Lunch Chat today. You can join our Power Lunch Chats Monday-Friday at 11 a.m. on Here's a recap of today's Q&A:

Jason Kersey 11:01 a.m. Hello everyone and thanks for joining the live chat today. Hope you're all having a great day so far
Theboardrider 11:01 a.m. Any impressions of the new coaches? Who has really impressed? How do they fit in? Who do you think may be swiped up by another program soon?
Jason Kersey 11:04 a.m. All the new coaches seem to be impressive guys. I would expect they'll all three be at Oklahoma for a while. If I had to pick one who might not, though, I'd probably go with Jerry Montgomery, just because he doesn't have the personal attachment to this area that Bedenbaugh and Boulware do. Having said that, I don't think Montgomery is going anywhere for a long time
Theboardrider 11:04 a.m. Who will lead the Sooners in sacks this year?
Jason Kersey 11:05 a.m. At this point, I'd say Chuka Ndulue or Geneo Grissom
Mike 11:06 a.m. What is making Ahmad Thomas stand out so far?
Jason Kersey 11:09 a.m. Mike Stoops said last week that Ahmad is a quick learner and is adapting to the college game quicker than most freshmen. Some of his new teammates have been impressed by his big hits
Mike 11:09 a.m. We are hearing the same things this spring about Metoyer that we did last year. Will he live up to his potential this year after getting a year of being the program under his belt?
Jason Kersey 11:11 a.m. Metoyer definitely struggled last year once the real games started, but I don't think there's any doubt that the talent is there. It will be interesting to see how he progresses this year, when, I believe, he'll be relied upon more because Justin Brown and Kenny Stills are gone
Theboardrider 11:12 a.m. Thanks Jason! In term's of unexpected impact who will be this year's Sterling Shepard?
Jason Kersey 11:14 a.m. Keep an eye on Derrick Woods, the redshirt freshman receiver. He was a co-Scout Team Player of the Year last season and really made a big impression on coaches. He'll have his opportunity to make an impact this year. Also, true freshman wideout Dannon Cavil is a big, tall guy whose size could make him an immediate threat
oksooner 11:18 a.m. Looks like we are going to get the recruits we need with new coachs in place, I check out soonerscoop all the time . And it looks like we are moving in the right direction.
Jason Kersey 11:20 a.m. Yeah, the new coaches definitely hit the ground running with recruiting. OU seems to be making more offers to underclassmen than they have in the past, getting in on kids earlier, and I think that'll help them land some of the elite talent they've lost out on the past few years
Your Name 11:21 a.m. Montgomery seems to be coaching a more physical style with the D-Line than what was preached the past few years. It seems to be, once again, simpler for the guys. Is this the feeling among the D-linemen?
Jason Kersey 11:24 a.m. I think that's probably fair to say. Another thing about Montgomery that the d-linemen are really responding to is his encouraging style. From what they've said, he's really good about praising them when they do stuff right, but not coming down too hard when they do something wrong.
Theboardrider 11:24 a.m. Do you think we can bring in a top 5 recruiting class this or next year?
Jason Kersey 11:27 a.m. I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility. I wouldn't expect that next year, but you never know!
Brian in Tallahassee FL. 11:27 a.m. How much will the zone read be implemented into the offense? Will it be the staple of the run game or just something OU runs to throw the opposing team off once or twice?
Jason Kersey 11:30 a.m. I think the zone read will be a factor next year. How much? I'm not sure about that. So much of that depends on who the quarterback is and what their individual strengths are. Regardless, though, I wouldn't expect it to be something they use more than a few times a game, just because they'll want to remain a pass first offense
Danielle in Florida 11:30 a.m. Being a huge Sterling fan, having played in the Pride when his dad was playing (yes, I know I'm old :-) do you expect him to build on last year and become the go to guy?
Jason Kersey 11:31 a.m. I definitely think Sterling will build on last season. He had a great freshman season and will only get better. I think Jalen Saunders will probably be the "go-to" guy next season, but Sterling certainly looks like he's destined for great things before it's all said and done
oksooner 11:31 a.m. Coach bedenbaugh is coaching a more physical offense line ,the d - line are going to more dominat this year and I would say the running game will be a lot stronger as well
Jason Kersey 11:31 a.m. I think all three of those areas will be improved next year as well
Brian in Tallahassee FL. 11:31 a.m. Is the defense going be as bad if worse than last year? Losing all the people they did off a bad defense? Will OU fans have to be happy holding teams to field goals and deal with scores similar to the Baylor OSU and WVU games last year?
Jason Kersey 11:33 a.m. It's really hard to say at this point. It would be difficult for the defense to be much worse than it was late last season, but losing all those starters definitely is a concern.
Jason Kersey 11:33 a.m. Thanks everyone for the great questions, and have a great rest of your week!
