OSU offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich said he’s excited to finally get to work with freshman quarterback Mason Rudolph.

“He’s done a great job in the weight room, training, off-season conditioning and the film room as well,” Yurcich said. “He’s been great.

“You recruit a guy for so long, and then finally get to coach him in practice. What Mason has to understand, he’s a true freshman, really should be in high school still right now. He has to take his time and steadily improve. He can’t ask too much of himself early on, stay within himself.”

SEATON WANTS TO START

Jeremy Seaton’s goal is clear. He wants to be the next Kye Staley, a mainstay at fullback in recent years.

Seaton, a junior from Cashion, has played a lot as a Cowboy. Even scored a touchdown against Purdue in the Heart of Dallas Bowl in the 2012 season. “My favorite memory,” he said.

But Seaton said his off-season goals are “to get better. I think I’m gunning for the starting role at fullback, and I’d just like to get on the level that Kye Staley was on.”
