Burke said police told her “She looked like she just sat down to rest and died.”
Pocola police officer John Limbocker said Poole's body was found about noon. Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation personnel were called in and transferred Poole to the state medical examiner's office to determine a cause of death, Limbocker said.
Burke described her mother as a loving parent who loved children, and as a devoted Christian who cherished singing at church.
Poole attended Union Baptist Church for decades. Though her memory and health faded over time, she never forgot the songs she sang, Burke said.
“She didn't know her day of the week but she'd start her day wanting to know if it was Sunday,” Burke said.
