As the MLB Network’s "MLB Tonight” studio show bounces from game to game this season, network president Tony Petitti says it will remind him of CBS’ coverage of March Madness.

First eight games

→April 16, noon, Cleveland at N.Y. Yankees

→April 16, 7 p.m., Toronto at Minnesota

→April 23, 7 p.m., Los Angeles at Houston

→April 30, 6 p.m., Boston at Tampa Bay

→May 7, 6 p.m., Philadelphia at N.Y. Mets

→May 14, 7 p.m., Baltimore at Kansas City

→May 21, 7 p.m., Chicago Cubs at St. Louis

"Obviously, it’s not a one-and-done situation for these clubs, but I think we can create that kind of energy moving around from game to game,” said Petitti, a former CBS executive.

Coming on the air most nights at 5 p.m., "MLB Tonight” will provide coverage for up to eight hours, until the final pitch on the West Coast. The Sunday version will be primarily highlights because most Sunday games are in the afternoon.

"It will evolve in three or four guys talking about baseball for eight hours a night,” said primary host Matt Vasgersian, a former San Diego Padres and Fox announcer.
