The Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma ) recently signed Moby as the headlining act at the fifth annual ACM@UCO Rocks Bricktown Festival April 11.

The Grammy Award-nominated electronic singer-songwriter will perform a DJ set at the Chevy Bricktown Events Center at 10 p.m., capping off a festival full of fresh, innovative shows that are all free and open to the public.

ACM@UCO Rocks Bricktown features more than 70 student bands that take over Oklahoma City’s Bricktown district for an afternoon and evening to offer the community a chance to see the talent being developed at the academy. Other special guest performances will be announced closer to the event date, according to a news release.

Moby, born Richard Melville Hall, is a multi-talented musician, DJ and photographer, who has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide. He is best known for his electronic dance music work, which gained international attention with the release of his fifth studio album “Play.”

According to, “Moby was one of the most important dance music figures of the early 90’s, helping bring the music to a mainstream audience in both England and America.”

Moby also has co-written, produced and remixed music for artists including Michael Jackson, Daft Punk, David Bowie, Metallica and Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips. He has been nominated for multiple Grammy Awards and has been the recipient of other various awards including an MTV Video Music Award and two Billboard Music Awards.

In October, Moby released “Innocents,” his eleventh studio album, which features track collaborations with Coyne, Skylar Grey, and Queens of the Stone Age, among other artists.

“In our continued effort to bring great artists to the Oklahoma City metro, I’m very excited that ACM@UCO has been able to book Moby. Moby’s music resonates cross-culturally and cross-generationally and represents what our program is all about,” said Scott Booker, CEO of ACM@UCO, in the release.

“It was going to be hard to top the success of the Nile Rodgers and Chic performance from last year, but I have no doubt that ACM@UCO Rocks Bricktown is going to have it’s most successful year yet!”
