SUFFERN, N.Y. (AP) — Police say that a woman who jumped off the George Washington Bridge after her uncle was slain left an apologetic note to her children at the scene of the crime.
Police in Suffern say Nickie Hunt and Gary Crockett killed William Valenti on Monday after he threatened to go to the police over money they took from him.
The couple then jumped to their deaths from the bridge.
Suffern Detective Craig Long said Wednesday that Hunt left a few notes at the scene, including one addressed to "the four most amazing kids."
He said Hunt did not mention Valenti's killing in the note. She apologized to the children for their upbringing and her estrangement from their father.
