When the back child support owed to her reached about $17,000, Julie Koble wanted something to be done.

More Info

"It took two years and $4,000. I ended up getting something, but no way to really collect anything. Having a court order doesn’t mean the kids will ever see the money if you have no way to get it."

She has a nice job and was able to handle the basic needs of her two sons from her first marriage. But her academically and musically talented teenage sons participate in activities that had started costing more money.

Both are in the Broken Arrow marching and concert bands, which cost about $1,400 each for uniforms and equipment. That doesn’t include music lessons at about $60 a month each and instrument costs.

The more you make, the more you are required to pay. Why should a parent live a lavish lifestyle and let their kids go without? Also, why would a person marry another person knowing the situation then have kids by them also? Child support enforcement has a formulary that they figure child support by. They take the fathers income and the mothers income and which ever one makes the least pays the least. If a person is unemployed child support is figured at minimum wage and that is the amount that a parent is ordered to pay. Anytime the person paying receives more than 10% increase in wages, the amount can be refigured to the current amount payable. Check out the DHS Child Support website and see the formulary that is used.

I have no idea how much money the father brings in, but $350 per WEEK in child support? The article does not say if he is also responsible for medical insurance...
