PARIS (AP) — Monaco feels very little pressure about its visit to Paris Saint-Germain in a clash of French league big spenders on Sunday.
Owned by Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev, promoted Monaco spent about 170 million euros this summer to upgrade its squad. The money has had an early payoff: Monaco top the league after five rounds.
Defender Eric Abidal says "it's good to go there as the leader. That certainly removes some pressure from our shoulders."
Monaco and third-place PSG are the only teams still undefeated.
PSG was more frugal than Monaco this summer, spending 114 million euros to hire Edinson Cavani, Marquinhos and Lucas Digne. But for the match of the round, the Paris club has more experience.
