Money for streetcars could be better spent

The push to spend nearly $100 million on a streetcar system is absurd. The city has spent millions of dollars tearing up good streets and replacing the concrete and millions to bury utility lines underground to approve the appearance of downtown Oklahoma City. Now we want to tear up the new streets and install tracks and to place new aboveground utilities to power the stupid things? What a waste of money! The money could be spread around the city improving streets, parks and the like. Enough is enough on downtown projects!

Gary Baker, Oklahoma City

Voters approved the streetcar project as part of Maps 3 in 2009.
