Money woes hurt military mission
When members of the military are deployed, whether in the skies above the Pacific or on the streets of Baghdad, the last thing they need to be worrying about is a MasterCard bill they forgot to pay.
When members of the military are deployed, whether in the skies above the Pacific or on the streets of Baghdad, the last thing they need to be worrying about is a MasterCard bill they forgot to pay.
That isn’t always the case. To help ease the minds of members of the military and their families, Tinker Air Force Base recently hosted the "Financial Readiness Challenge,” a traveling road show conceived by the U.S. Department of Defense. Jane Allen, director of the Airman and Family Readiness Center at Tinker, said her department offers financial planning classes and other resources to military families each month, calling the event "a supplement” to the ongoing programs. "Personal finances are always an issue, and it’s always in the forefront of our brains,” she said. "It’s a huge program within our center to make sure people can focus on the mission and not on their finances.
