BUTTE, Mont. (AP) — Montana Tech women's basketball coach Kerie DePell has resigned after six seasons to move back to her home state of Washington.

Tech athletic director Charles Bradley announced the resignation on Wednesday.

DePell's teams posted an 83-88 record. Her teams qualified for the NAIA national championship tournaments in 2010 and 2011 — the only appearances in school history. DePell was an assistant at Tech for two years before being named head coach.

DePell says her husband recently received a job transfer to Spokane, Wash. Their third child was born this past winter and DePell says she's excited to get back to her home state and to get her children around their extended family.
