— St. Andrew Catholic Church recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new youth center.

The 10,000-square-foot building will be on the south side of the church's existing complex at 800 NW 5.

The youth center will have a recreational area, learning centers for junior high and high school students, a youth ministry office and a chapel.

Workers started the actual dirt leveling earlier in the month, before the Aug. 26 groundbreaking.

Jerry Meek, general manager of Apollo Building Systems, said the structure should be complete by spring or summer 2013.
