Moore roofer claims Oklahoma House victory
Mark McBride won the Oklahoma House District 53 Republican runoff primary Tuesday night.
The owner of a Moore construction and roofing business and a small-business owner from Tulsa were elected Tuesday to the Oklahoma House of Representatives.

Mark McBride of Moore, won 58.9 percent of the votes cast in Tuesday's Republican runoff primary election for the House District 53 race, according to unofficial results from the state Election Board.
Ken Walker won 53.5 percent of the vote in the Republican runoff primary election for the House District 70 seat. He won 1,635 votes compared with 1,419 for Shane Saunders, owner of Trident Energy.
No Democrat or independent filed so Walker will succeed Rep. Ron Peters, R-Tulsa, who couldn't seek re-election because of 12-year legislative term limits.
State election officials will certify Tuesday's voting results next week.
McBride won 991 votes compared with 692 votes for Paula Sullivan, a writer and a performer who also worked as an office manager for her husband's chiropractic practice.
McBride, of Moore, will succeed Rep. Randy Terrill, R-Moore, who did not seek re-election to run for a Cleveland County county commissioner seat. No Democrat or independent sought the post; McBride, along with other House members, will be sworn into the office in mid-November.
“I look forward to working with the guys and on some common-sense legislation,” McBride said Tuesday night. “I'm not a grandstander.”
He said he wants to work for a “smarter government and smaller government.”
In the House District 88 race, Kay Floyd, of Oklahoma City, easily defeated Mike Dover.
Floyd, a state administrative law judge who presides over disputes in state agencies, won 63 percent of the vote. She received 904 votes compared with 532 votes for Dover, who retired after 27 years as executive director of Variety Health Center, a nonprofit community health center that provides health care to low-income families.
