— A Highland East Junior High student was injured Monday afternoon when he fell off a moving bus, police said.

The 13-year-old got off the bus in the 300 block of Nancy Jane Court and tried to get back on when the bus drove away, police Sgt. Jeremy Lewis said.

The boy grabbed a bus window and held on. The bus driver didn't know the boy was hanging off the bus and drove a block and a half before he stopped after students yelled to him, Lewis said.

The police do not know if the boy fell before or after the bus stopped. The teenager suffered a head injury and was taken to OU Medical Center, Lewis said.
