Moore sophomore Halle Melone didn’t waste much time making a decision about her collegiate future.
The 2013 All-City Player of the Year in slowpitch recently verbally committed to play at Southern Miss, citing her desire to be a nurse and comfort with the coaching staff.
“They are willing to work with me and nursing,” she said via Twitter. “Nursing is my intended major. I love the coaching staff and it feels like home. I talked with the girls and people around campus and I loved all the feed back I got about the coaching staff.”
As a freshman last season, Melone tied the school record for home runs (27) and RBIs (96). Moore lost in the semifinals.
In the fall during fastpitch, she was the starting first baseman for the Lions, who lost to Southmoore in the Class 6A championship game.
