The first-come, first-served method of enrollment spurred Ryan and Shelly Kohs to join about 20 other families at Broadmoore Elementary School in south Moore. The Kohs, who got to the school Friday, said they and other campers were becoming increasingly grumpy because of the uncomfortable conditions.
Families who showed up for the campout were added to a list, and campers set informal rules to keep their spots, Ryan Kohs said. One person must remain at the camp the entire time, but campers are allowed to leave in shifts for showers, food runs and climate-controlled rest.
"You have to stay here on the campus until Monday morning when they hand out the enrollment forms," he said Sunday.
Most other campers at Broadmoore grunted and shook their heads when asked for comments, and some said nothing at all.
The Kohs said they could save up to $6,000 in day care costs by enrolling their son in the all-day class.
Enrollment begins this morning.
