ERICK — The name of one of the drivers killed in a multivehicle wreck on Interstate 40 near the
Carlos Desantiago, 33, of Juarez, Mexico, was killed in the crash, which happened in the westbound lanes west of mile marker 1.
The second fatality, a driver of a tractor-trailer rig, has not yet been identified, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.
About 8:30 a.m. Saturday, a total of 15 vehicles were involved in the crash, which closed parts of I-40 until 11 p.m.
The cause still is under investigation, troopers said, but heavy fog was
Adan Factor, 33, of Pleasanton, Texas, was critically injured in the crash and Timothy Fisher, 51, of Clermont, Fla., is listed in fair condition, troopers said. Both men were flown to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
Another driver was flown to a Texas hospital, where he was stabilized, and a Muskogee man also was hospitalized at OU Medical Center. An additional 13 people were not injured or treated and released, troopers said.
At least one of the rigs caught fire after the wreck, and troopers spent hours sorting through the wreckage, troopers said.
