Last year, city officials spent $177,100 to renovate the council chambers at 20 S Littler Ave.

This year’s fiscal budget includes $15,000 to upgrade the lobby area.

Plans are to remove the old flooring and replace it with tile.

Mats will be purchased, ceiling tiles will be removed, the ceiling retextured, new laminate around the drinking fountain and the woodwork touched up.

Staff is taking quotes for the work that is anticipated to be done in February or March, City Manager Larry Stevens said.

Work is expected to take three to four weeks to complete.

The frequently-problematic voting machine in the chambers could be replaced this fiscal year. City officials have allocated $40,000 in the budget for a replacement.

"Staff is reviewing options and will then develop a formal recommendation,” Stevens said.

"I think it might cost less than we have budgeted,” he said.
