More than 48,000 people are still without power Thursday, and officials say it could be Sunday until electricity is completely restored.

At the outages' peak, more than 100,000 AEP-PSO and OG&E customers in the metro area were without power, but those figures had dropped below 55,000 by nightfall Wednesday, and by 9 a.m. Thursday it was just above 48,000.

Temperatures are expected to reach a high of 92 degrees with a 60 percent chance of thunderstorms by late Thursday, according the National Weather Service.
