Sen. Jim Inhofe, a senior member of the Armed Services Committee who has visited Afghanistan several times, said Monday that the war is at a critical juncture and that more troops should be added.
"It’s time to listen to our commanders on the ground and make an absolute commitment to victory in Afghanistan,” Inhofe said.
Inhofe credited the surge of troops in Iraq with stemming violence.
"We owe it to the thousands of U.S., NATO and coalition forces who have given their lives on the battlefield to see the war in Afghanistan through to its successful conclusion while continuing to deny Islamic extremists a safe haven in Afghanistan,” he said.
