  • OU football: Sooners making a strong in-state recruiting push

By Ryan Aber | Published: Sat, Jul 4, 2015

NORMAN — Logan Roberson might not have been speechless but he was awfully close last month when the Harrah offensive lineman committed to Oklahoma. Roberson grew up dreaming of playing for the Sooners and hadn’t even allowed himself to think much of it being a real possibility until OU offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh extended the offer. Once the offer was there, though, Roberson didn’t need any time to think, committing on the spot. Roberson is one of three in-state players among OU’s six commitments for the 2016 class, joining Victory Christian linebacker Jon-Michael Terry and NEO and former Lawton High cornerback Maurice Chandler.

BY RYAN ABER Staff Writer raber@opubco.com | Updated: Thu, Jul 2, 2015

Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield has shoulder fatigue but does not have structural damage, a source close to the program told The Oklahoman. Mayfield's soreness is due to "simply throwing too many reps," the source said. The source contradicted reports earlier this week that Mayfield suffered a torn rotator cuff. The official Sooners football Twitter account even addressed the report Wednesday night, also characterizing Mayfield's condition as shoulder fatigue. Mayfield, a junior, is competing with Trevor Knight and Cody Thomas for the starting quarterback spot. He sat out last season after transferring from Texas Tech. As a true-freshman walk-on, Mayfield made seven starts for the Red Raiders.
