    Kevin Durant left Oracle Arena on Thursday night with only a slight limp, telling media members postgame he hoped to play against the Lakers the next night. But after some reevaluation Friday morning, the team decided against it. Durant's sprained ankle will force him to miss tonight's game at Staples Center against the Lakers. Moving forward, he is day-to-day, expected to get reevaluated on Saturday in OKC with the chance he returns Sunday against the Pelicans. It is not considered a serious sprain. In his first seven seasons, Durant missed only a combined 16 games. In Year 8, this will already be his 18th missed.

    The Western Conference continues to get tougher. The Dallas Mavericks have reportedly agreed in principle with the Boston Celtics to acquire point guard Rajon Rondo as part of a four-player deal, ESPN's Marc Stein reports. The Mavericks will send Brandan Wright, Jae Crowder, Jameer Nelson, and two future draft picks to the Celtics for Rondo, who has spent his entire NBA career in Boston. Rondo is averaging 8.3 points, 10.8 assists and 7.5 rebounds per game for the Celtics this season.
