Raised on a crop and cattle farm near Lindsay, McDonnell started her journalism career in seventh grade, when she was elected reporter for her school’s 4-H Club.     In honor of Fleet Week, Jimmy Fallon and Adam Sandler joined forces to perform "Friends on All Bases" on "The Tonight Show." The song, which delighted the servicemen and women in the audience, is a parody of Oklahoma country music star Garth Brooks' "Friends in Low Places." Brooks took to social media to praise the spoof of his seminal hit: "This is HILARIOUS!!!!! @jimmyfallon @AdamSandler what about the third verse???? love, g," Brooks wrote on Twitter. Fleet Week is a Navy, Coast Guard and Marine Corps tradition in which active military ships recently deployed in overseas operations dock  in a variety of major cities for a week.     Oklahoma City rapper Jabee has released the video for his new single "Exhausted," from his upcoming album "Black Future." The clip was filmed in various Oklahoma City area locations, including outside Leadership Square in downtown and inside the recently revamped Castle Row Studios in Del City. As previously reported, Jabee will celebrate the release of “Black Future” with a concert on Saturday, June 18 at the Tower Theatre, 425 NW 23. This will be the first concert in the newly renovated Tower Theatre, according to a news release. Doors will at 7 p.m., and the show will start at 8 p.m. Hosted by Malcolm Tubbs with KOKH FOX 25 News, it will feature performances by L.T.Z.

    Celebrated Thursday, the second annual Red Nose Day in the United States raised more than $31.5 million to help children in need in the U.S. and in some of the poorest communities around the world.  People from all walks of life got behind the cause, buying Red Noses, donating and fundraising, and showing their support on social media. The day’s events culminated in NBC’s live, star-studded charity event ‘The Red Nose Day Special,’ which brought together more than 70 Hollywood stars to raise funds for the cause, according to a news release.

Elton John, Julia Roberts, Will Ferrell and Kobe Bryant also are among the more than 65 celebrities who are coming together to have fun, raise money and change lives on  the special, airing tonight, which is Red Nose Day. The star-studded charity event, which helps raise awareness and money for kids in need here at home and around the world, will be hosted by Craig Ferguson and features comedy, music and more.

    The Beach Boys, along with Surf Rock Icon Dean Torrence of Jan and Dean, hosted a May 21 concert to benefit the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma’s Food for Kids programs. In total, $33,407 was raised to fight childhood hunger in central and western Oklahoma. This will support 167 children in the program for an entire year, according to a news release. “It’s an honor to have Oklahomans gather up for one night for this important cause,” said John Occhipinti, who organized the concert, in the release. “It was great to see that and it will make a huge here in Oklahoma.     The Academy of Country Music has announced that 10-time ACM Award-winning group, Lady Antebellum will host the 10th Annual ACM Honors, an evening dedicated to celebrating the special honorees and off-camera category winners from the 51st Academy of Country Music Awards. For the first time, the ACM Honors will be produced for television by dick clark productions and broadcast at a later date on the CBS Television Network, according to a news release. The 10th Annual ACM Honors will be on Tuesday, Aug. 30 at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tenn. ACM Honors performers and airdate for the primetime special will be announced in the coming weeks.

    British actress Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen on HBO's "Game of Thrones," appeared on "Late Night with Seth Meyers," where she talked about learning her character's language, Dothraki, on the hit fantasy series.     Oklahoma country music superstar Blake Shelton stopped by "The Tonight Show" Tuesday night, where host Jimmy Fallon helped him broaden his culinary horizons by introducing the Ada native to sushi for the first time. "That there looks like a human tongue," Shelton said, examining a piece of raw salmon, but after tasting it, he admitted, “I’ll tell you right now, man to man: I enjoyed that." He was less fond of pickled ginger, noting the texture reminded him of pre-chewed gum, and raw yellowtail, which he said he didn't like at all. Brooks, who was born in Tulsa and raised in Yukon, announced today concerts at 7 p.m. Friday, July 22 and 7 p.m. Saturday, July 23 at AT&T Center.     The first part of the two-part "The Voice" Season 10 finale aired Monday night on NBC, and country-soul finalist Adam Wakefield brought plenty of Oklahoma spirit to his last round of competitive performances. The four finalists - Wakefield, of Oklahoma country music star Blake Shelton's team; Alisan Porter, of Christina Aguilera's team; Laith Al-Saadi, of Adam Levine's team; and Hannah Huston, of Pharrell Williams' team - each performed an original song, a cover and a duet with their coach. For the first duet of the night, Wakefield and Shelton sang “The Conversation” by Waylon Jennings and Hank Williams Jr. They sounded like kindred spirits singing together.
