• Decades later, letters from Oklahoma City soldier in World War I offer connection for daughter

    Some years ago, Sally Ferrell sat down for the first time to read a stack of 30 faded, yellowing letters that had been in her family for decades. The handwriting on the pages of YMCA stationery had grown dim over the years. Even with a magnifying glass, she still couldn’t make out certain parts. But she had no trouble recognizing the man who’d written the letters more than 60 years earlier as her father.
