    A Choctaw family evacuated their home Thursday after floodwaters caused the North Canadian River to change its course and eat the shoreline through their backyard, taking two barns and threatening to wash two houses on the property into the river.

    When he signed on to be the head football coach at Choctaw last week, Todd Dilbeck compared the Yellowjackets’ situation to what he walked into as the Mustang coach 10 years ago. On Friday, Dilbeck took one more step down that path, hiring Mustang head coach Ty Prestidge — previously Dilbeck’s assistant with the Broncos — as his offensive coordinator at Choctaw, pending school board approval. “It’s still board-pending, but when I came back to Oklahoma, I knew there was one piece I wanted to get back with us,” Dilbeck said. “Ty and I have worked at three places together before. He hired me at Plainview and Westmoore, and now I’ve hired him at Mustang and Choctaw.

    After seven seasons, Todd Dilbeck is returning to Oklahoma, where he is expected to be named the football coach and athletic director at Choctaw, pending school board approval. Dilbeck has coached at multiple programs in the state, including Tahlequah and Mustang. He was one of the first high school coaches in the state to implement and succeed with a multiple-receiver, spread offense that gained popularity in the mid-2000s. He coached Mustang to the Class 6A state championship game in 2005, losing 33-7 to Tulsa Union. He left after that season to join Todd Graham’s coaching staff at Rice University for one year, then went to Alma (Ark.) High School for six years.

    CHOCTAW (AP) — Oklahoma authorities are investigating the apparent shooting death of a man whose body was found in Choctaw. The Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office says Choctaw police asked the department to help with the investigation of the death of the man whose body was found about 8 a.m. Monday in a yard on the southeast side of the Oklahoma City suburb. The man's name has not been released. The sheriff's department says the man appeared to be in his mid-40s and had been shot several times. Authorities say they have no suspects or a motive for the shooting.

    David Griggs, 24, a substitute teacher and coach at Choctaw Middle School, has been charged with lewd acts with a child under 16. According to an affidavit filed by sheriff's deputies, Griggs had inappropriate online conversations with at least two students and exchanged lewd photographs with a 15-year-old girl.
