Here comes the bridal designer … .and it’s Zac Posen. He hitched his creative talents with David’s Bridal for a collection of bridal gowns that’s much more budget friendly than his usual clothing. Called Truly Zac Posen, the line will consist of six gowns that will be in stores February 2014. The gowns will be in gradations of ivory and priced between $850 and $1,350.

Once in a while I enjoy peeking in on celebrities’ lives. What they read, what they wear, where they travel. What caught my attention recently was a little tidbit on Ashley Madekwe, best known as that conniving little social climber Ashley Davenport on television’s “Revenge.” Love that show, though it has been reported that Ashley’s character makes an appearance in the first episode of season three this fall and then she’s out of there.

Big Brothers Big Sisters, one of the the nation’s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring networks, is joining forces with JC Penney for the retailer’s charitable giving program, jcp cares.  This month, customers can help by purchasing both in store and online at jcp.com.   Penney’s encourages customers to round up purchases to the nearest dollar and donating the difference to Big Brothers Big Sisters. In addition, Penney’s will donate $1 for every $50 gift card sold in June, up to $50,000, giving Big Brothers Big Sisters an opportunity to receive additional funding.

  I came across this article recently on WWD. It’s by designer Joseph Abboud for Think Tank, a periodic column written by industry leaders and “other critical thinkers.” Abboud is an award-winning menswear designer and chief executive director for Men’s Warehouse Inc.

All 301 Belk stores will celebrate the company’s 125th anniversary with festivities, entertainment and giveaways on May 29. In Oklahoma, Belk stores are in Stillwater, Tulsa and Owasso. The first Belk store opened on May 29, 1888, in Monroe, N.C., and is still family owned.
