• Superman III celebrates 30th anniversary

    “Superman III,” which starred Christopher Reeve as Clark Kent and Superman and Richard Pryor as computer hacker Gus Gorman.  The film is much maligned – Entertainment Weekly today called it “arguably the worst superhero movie of all time” — but I maintain that if you re-watch the movie 30 years later, it’s probably better than you think it is.

    Comic-book writer Sterling Gates will appear at metro-area libraries and a comic book store this week to celebrate the “Man of Steel” movie. Gates, New York Times best-selling writer of comics including “Superman: Last Stand on New Krypton,” “Superman: War of the Supermen,” and a prequel digital comic for “Man of Steel,” will appear at comic-writing workshops at four metro libraries: 10 a.m.

    The Hub Network has recreated the “Man of Steel” trailer using clips from “Superman: The Animated Series” with re-recorded dialogue from the cast of the show. The Hub will air a 5-episode marathon of “Superman: The Animated Series” on Friday, June 14 beginning at 3 p.m. Central Time. “Man of Steel” will release in theaters June 14, starring Henry Cavill as Superman.

    According to a report at Deadline, Warner Bros. is already fast-tracking a sequel to “Man of Steel,” with Zack Snyder reportedly returning to direct.  Screenwriter David Goyer is also expected to return.  ”Man of Steel,” starring Henry Cavill as Superman, will hit theaters Friday.   Goyer’s deal is also said to include the screenplay for an upcoming “Justice League” film.

    Director Kyle Roberts has revealed the official trailer for “The Posthuman Project.” Roberts’ film “Posthuman” filmed in Oklahoma over the past few months. I wrote the film’s initial story and first draft; DC Comics writer Sterling Gates authored the final screenplay. “Posthuman” is about teen-agers who receive a genetic boost of super abilities.

    According to an AP report, the teens of Riverdale High will star in a new movie to be produced by Warner Bros. Archie, Betty, Veronica and their friends star in comics from the Archie Comics line, where they have wacky high school adventures in the town of Riverdale. According to the AP, Jason Moore, director of “Pitch Perfect,” will direct.

    Nokia has shared a new trailer for “Man of Steel,” which opens June 14. Nokia and Warner Brothers are official partners for the upcoming “Man of Steel” film, which features the story of Superman. The film, based on the DC Comics, stars Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman; Amy Adams as Lois Lane; and Michael Shannon as General Zod.
