• Oklahoma football: Sooners get commitment from guard Dominique Hearne

    NORMAN — Oklahoma’s strong June recruiting push continued Thursday when the Sooners picked up a commitment from guard Dominique Hearne. Hearne (6-foot-3, 288 pounds) announced his commitment on Twitter. The three-star prospect is the third commitment in the last nine days for the Sooners. All three are from Texas. Hearne is from Lancaster, Texas. The school is already well-represented on OU’s roster, with alums Quentin Hayes and Dakota Austin playing for the Sooners. While Hearne didn’t go through drills during the Sooners’ camp over the weekend, he came to Norman to get a feel for the coaches and players. He is the seventh commitment for the 2015 class for the Sooners.

    NORMAN — Pflugerville (Texas) Hendrickson has once again proven fruitful for Oklahoma football. Four-star cornerback P.J. Mbanasor committed to the Sooners on Tuesday, becoming OU’s fifth commit for the 2015 class. The former TCU commit announced his decision on Twitter, posting “Let’s gooooo! I’m done! #BlessedBoomer.” He chose the Sooners over a final group that included six other schools—Florida, LSU, Michigan State, Nebraska, Notre Dame and Ohio State. Mbanasor (6-foot-1, 180 pounds) is the second Hendrickson player to commit to the Sooners in as many years. Running back Samaje Perine committed to the Sooners in March 2013 and signed with the Sooners in February. Mbanasor is the No. 232

It didn't take long for Meier to realize that was what he wanted as well, committing to the Sooners a few days later. Wednesday, the Tulsa Union tight end and Redskins teammate Jeffery Mead, a wide receiver, signed with the Sooners. “My whole family is all OU fans,” Mead said. “I grew up loving OU.” Before signing Wednesday morning, Mead put himself through a new workout routine.

Douglass High School closed Wednesday because of below-freezing temperatures in Oklahoma City and Clark's signing ceremony has been rescheduled for Thursday at 2 p.m. Douglass coach Willis Alexander said it is possible that Clark could sign his letter of intent Wednesday. At that time, the college could make his signing public, or could wait for Clark's public announcement in front of his family and classmates Thursday.
