Oklahoma City Community & Non-Profit on wimgo The Paseo Arts Association has announced the music and performance lineup for the 2013 Paseo Arts Festival, set for May 25-27 in the historic Paseo Arts District. Musicians and other performers featured at the festival will perform on one of two stages: the North Stage—near Picasso Café—or the South Stage—in the middle of Paseo Drive, near NW 28 Street.

Oklahoma City native and acclaimed Hollywood producer Hunt Lowry will receive the 2013 Oklahoma Film ICON Award during the 2013 deadCenter Film Festival. Lowry will receive the award prior to a free outdoor screening of “The Last of the Mohicans” at 9:30 p.m.

Today’s featured event: See the exhibit “Velvet Memes: New Work by Trent Lawson” at a.k.a. gallery, 3001 Paseo in the Paseo Arts District. The gallery is noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday. The Oklahoma City specializes in kitschy and witty velvet paintings that mingle pop culture and art history.

In keeping with nearly three decades of tradition, the Paseo Arts Association is proud to once again name one of its most well-loved artists as the designer for this year’s Paseo Arts Festival poster. This year’s artist is Gayle Curry. The design is a stylized interpretation of the buildings in the Paseo Arts District, depicted in a lively color scheme that echoes the vibrancy of the art community itself.

Oklahoma City artist Linda Hiller’s National Park series of oil paintings depicting great American landscapes such as the Grand Canyon and Alaska’s Denali National Park done in both traditional and contemporary styles is on view through March 30 at The Summer Wine Art Gallery, 2928 B Paseo.

For her new exhibit “Orient Shift,” artist Mary Ann Strandell observes storied ancient and modern culture through the mediation of handmade paintings and through the lens of technology with lenticular prints. The exhibit opens with a reception from 6 to 10 tonight during The Paseo’s First Friday Gallery walk at JRB Art at the Elms, 2810 N Walker.

Today’s featured event: This month, Paseo Originals Art Gallery, 2920 Paseo, is hosting a kaleidoscopic exhibition of artwork by represented gallery artists that as a whole demonstrate an extreme diversity of style interest and artistic approach. Headlining the event will be a jewelry trunk show for the new design collection by Norman artist Tomoaki Orikasa.

Today’s featured event: Check out the opening reception for the new exhibit “Seeing Red” from 6 to 9 tonight at In Your Eye Gallery, 3005-A Paseo. The reception is taking place during the monthly Paseo Gallery Walk in the Paseo Arts District.

Check out the official video for “Think I’m Somethin’” by Allie Lauren, an Oklahoma City-based indie/pop/jazz collaborative featuring the alluring emotional vocals of singer-songwriter Lauren {pronounced luh-REN} Nicole Clare and an eclectic mix of backing artists. “Think I’m Somethin’” is from Allie Lauren’s debut album “Tales of a Glass Heart,” released last fall.
