    TALIHINA (AP) — A patient who died after the medical helicopter he was on crashed has been identified as 49-year-old Michael David Wilson of Bethel. It was not yet determined Thursday whether Wilson died as a result of Tuesday's crash of a medical helicopter or if he died of previous injuries. Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma public safety director John Hobbs says Wilson's body was sent to the state medical examiner's office. A spokeswoman for the medical examiner did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The McCurtain Gazette has reported that Wilson was injured earlier Tuesday when he fell from a scaffold while working at Battiest Assembly of God Church.     STRINGTOWN (AP) — Five Oklahoma prison inmates were hospitalized following a fight in a housing unit of the Mack Alford Correctional Center in Stringtown. Department of Corrections spokesman Jerry Massie said Wednesday that a fight broke out between 20 or 30 inmates about 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Massie says the medium-security facility was locked down afterward and five inmates were taken to hospitals for stab or blunt force injuries. Two of the inmates were flown by medical helicopters to hospitals outside the area. Massie says the extent of the inmates' injuries was not immediately known but that none are believed to be life threatening. The names of the injured inmates were not released.

    POTEAU (AP) — Le Flore County's commissioners have decided not to build a Ten Commandments monument on the courthouse lawn at Poteau. The panel this week voted unanimously against putting the monument on public property. Chairman Lance Smith told the Times-Record newspaper of Fort Smith, Ark., in a story published Wednesday that the monument could lead to a lawsuit that the county “probably couldn't win.” The commission said it had a responsibility as stewards of taxpayer money and that it couldn't justify the cost of defending a lawsuit. A similar monument in Haskell County was moved to private property. Le Flore County commissioners had initially approved the monument in early 2009.
