Just because you’re vegan, does not mean you’re healthy.
Two years ago, I decided to try a vegan diet after watching the documentary “Vegucated.” I thought it might help with my fitness and overall health for roller derby. And even though, I’m in better shape now compared to then, I still find myself wanting to clamp down on my food choices even more.
A lot of people might think vegans only eat lettuce and a few other leafy selections. So wrong.
For one, we need protein, which we can get from beans, lentils, etc. And second, we also have a lot of fast food options. In fact, I’m pretty sure I had a higher intake of soy, tofu and bean burritos in the first year than greens.

Congrats to our overall Boathouse District Instameet winner Bo Apitz!
Bo, @le_ciudad, was among about 25 photographers who gathered at the Oklahoma City Boathouse District on July 27 to explore the area with us and snap photos.
He will receive a $100 gift certificate from Bedford Camera & Video and two Extreme Passes from RIVERSPORT Adventures.
Other winners include @kalebnimz, @winnlosedraw, @bigkat._ and @filmmakertaylor.
Thanks to everyone who came out and took photos with us. We had a great time and hope to host another Instameet soon.
