Mount St. Mary junior quarterback and defensive back Matt Peace has high hopes for the Rockets this season.
The Rockets went 3-7 last season, but are hoping the addition of Mark Little as the defensive coordinator will help things improve.
Peace recently sat down with The Oklahoman to talk about his summer and the upcoming season.
Q: What kind of summer did you have away from the field?
A: I had a pretty good summer. I was playing baseball most of the summer. I went to some physical therapy. I hurt my shoulder a little bit, but I'm good.
What did you do to your shoulder?
I detached a tendon in there, but not too bad. It's just a little light throwing early. We're good now. I'm all good.
What are you and the team looking to build on this season?
We're looking to build on our record last year. We felt that we should have done a lot better than 3-7. This is our big turnaround year for our program. We're looking to get above .500 for the first time in I don't know how many years at Mount St. Mary's and we're going to make the playoffs.
What is the new defense like with Mark Little?
It's great. I like it. It's a lot more different stuff. Last year we just ran cover two every time. This year it's a lot more coverages. I like it a lot more. It's fun.
What game are you looking forward to the most this season and why?
I'm looking for that first game of the year at Crooked Oak. We just play them every year. We kind of struggled with them and then last year we came up and beat 'em pretty good so it'll be fun this year to start the season off right.
