DETROIT (AP) — The importance of men's health and prostate cancer screenings will be highlighted during the Lions traditional Thanksgiving Day football game in Detroit.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is supplying 50,000 "Movember" themed towels Thursday at Ford Field.

The health insurer has been asking men across the state to grow moustaches throughout November as a way of encouraging others to take control of their health. The moustaches are symbols of an effort led by the Movember Foundation which raises awareness about health risks that go undetected and untreated.

Blue Cross Blue Shield president and chief executive Dan Loepp says grooming mustaches encourages other men to help "change the face of men's health."

Blue Cross covers 4.4 million of Michigan's 9.9 million residents.
