One of the most devastating effects of the toxic-leaching water bottles is the long-term effects on the environment. Only 50 percent of Americans have access to recycling, and for many Americans, recycling isn't convenient enough for an on-the-go lifestyle. The bottles, most of which lay waste in local landfills, eventually make it into the ocean. Fish mistake the broken-down plastic pieces for food and swallow them, eventually killing the fish.

“Tapped” uses interviews with scientists, residents, government workers and employees of the bottled water industry to uncover the alarming facts of an industry that's harming our world.

This terrifying film brings to light the looming effects of the bottled water industry and creates a detailed portrayal of the quest to find the truth.
